The two-time major championship winner has a lifetime exemption from playing at the PGA Championship due to his win at the 1991 PGA Championship in Crooked Stick Golf Club. As a result, the 56-year-old has a lot of fond memories associated with the particular major championship event and enjoys playing at the major. But is the five-time PGA Tour winner teeing it up at this week’s PGA Championship at the demanding Southern Hills Country Club?
Daly was playing last year when Phil Mickelson won the event at the Ocean Course. However, Long John did not play well in 2020 and missed the cut. He ended the event with an overall score of 27-over-par and missed the cut by a whopping 22 strokes.

According to the major championship field list on May 13, Daly is still a part of the field, and until now, the Tour veteran has not announced that he is not playing at Southern Hills Country Club. But his disqualification from a major championship event on the PGA Tour of Champions might change his mind about teeing it up on Thursday. He was disqualified from the Regions Tradition as he strangely did not sign his scorecard.
Apart from this, Long John has made the cut only three times at the PGA Championship since 1998, and his best finish came in 2012 when he finished in tied 12th position on the leaderboard. Moreover, only time will tell whether Daly chooses to tee it up at the 2022 PGA Championship or not. Will he play on Thursday?
