As a result, Nadal will slip down the rankings since he is defending 1000 points in Montreal. Losing those points mean, the Spaniard will slip down the rankings. he will go down from World No. 4 to World No. 6 in the following week, when the points are updated.

German tennis player Alexander Zverev will become World No. 4 and Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem will become World No. 5. This will be a huge setback for the Spaniard as he will be from touching distance from booking a spot in the ATP Finals in Turin.
