Roger Federer participated in one of the most attractive matches in recent tennis history against Rafael Nadal. The two collided in a charity match at Cape Town with 52,954 fans in attendance.

However, more than that, the match was able to raise $3.5 million in revenue for the Roger Federer Foundation. The foundation has been working for the noble cause of education of the African children.

The Swiss star revealed that education has been close to his heart as a social cause. This is precisely the reason for his interest.

What Did Roger Federer Say? 

Roger Federer revealed that the idea of working for the specific cause of education came from him.

This is what the Swiss maestro had to stay –

“That came from me. I always knew I wanted to do something with children. And not just a doctorate, but something with a direct encounter. In addition, physical suffering just affects me too much. So I decided on education. Together with health, it is everything in life.”

Federer revealed that he was not a very good student himself. However, it was his teachers that kept him going.

“Mediocre, I would say. But I always tried really hard. Sometimes I just got a little tired from sitting and listening. Then they had to use all their motivational tricks to keep me going.”

The website of the foundation unveils the organisation as a charity working in collaboration with local organisations. In Africa, it works on target based model looking to tackle important aspects in ealr childhood education.
