At a time when Francis Ngannou should be enjoying his recent win, he’s feeling “mad” and “frustrated”.

Francis Ngannou just put on a spectacular display of skill at UFC 249. He knocked out Jairzinho Rozenstruik in a mere 20 seconds. While most of the time a victory like this should be met with elation, Ngannou feels otherwise.

Despite this being his 4th straight win within the very first round, Francis seems to be stuck in some kind of limbo. He hasn’t progressed. He still doesn’t see a probable title shot anywhere in the near future. The current title fight stands on the uncertain ground due to the pandemic. The fight between Stipe Miococ and Daniel Cormier now stands postponed indefinitely.

Speaking with MMA Fighting about his recent win and why he’s still left feeling unrewarded, Francis said,”I don’t want to put my head in there because thinking about it is just getting me frustrated and mad. I don’t like this situation. I don’t like thinking about if Stipe and DC is going to happen. Are they going to fight? When are they going to fight? And what’s going to happen if the winner gets hurt and when will they come back to fight again? Maybe another potential 11-month or one-year layoff for me again. It’s something that I don’t even want to think about it.”

11 months for a title shot is a long time to wait. And that is what Francis Ngannou cannot deal with currently. But he also suggested that his fight at UFC 249 be for an interim title since Stipe Miocic is out for a while. But the UFC didn’t seem to oblige.

He said, “Also knowing what is going on in the heavyweight division, we asked for the interim title on the line. But the UFC denied it. I did not understand why. Saturday night, it was very frustrating. I was mad about it. I should be by myself with a belt around my waist. Don’t deserve it? Is that what they meant? What was the meaning of that exactly? What would it take them to do something like that? That was unfortunate.”

Francis Ngannou wants an interim title shot

Francis Ngannou is ready to even take on Cormier for the vacant title spot of Miocic isn’t ready to compete. He said stripping Miocic of the title is the only way the division can move on.

Francis Ngannou said, “I think the division has to move on. There’s not a division where there’s one year without a title defense. What are they fighting for? They have to be fighting for something. They all have a purpose. They’ve all have a dream. You have to keep slighting them and they have to keep the same motivation seeing that. As soon as there’s not a title in the division anymore, it’s not the same motivation. It’s not worth it. don’t want to take Stipe out of it. I just want what I deserve and let the UFC do their job.”
