Marian Vajda has been coaching Novak for a while now. In a recent interview with SportKlub which was translated, he addressed the recent criticism the Serb has been facing. He said,
“The idea of organizing the Adria Tour was good. Obviously, after a long break on the ATP tour, it definitely helped the players get back on track and enjoy tennis in a slightly different concept. All participants came because the measures of the Government were relaxed, they all respected those measures, so it is wrong to point the finger because they definitely respected the instructions of the Government.”

Marian was not the only one to have defended Novak. Goran Ivanisevic, who has been coaching him since 2019 also stepped in to defend the Serb. He said that people could not wait for him to do something wrong so that they could criticize him.
There is obviously a debate here about whether Novak was right or wrong. But that is not going to be the most important thing in people’s minds. They are going to be hoping that the players who were infected will recover soon so that they will play on the ATP Tour when it returns in August. Hopefully, that is exactly what happens.
