In an interview with ONE Championship, Jonathan Haggerty revealed that Superlek, whom he considers one of the pound-for-pound greats, is his primary training motivation. Haggerty stated, “Superlek is one of the greatest fighters of this time. It motivates me more to get up and train.” This statement came after the Thai champ recently described Haggerty as one of the best fighters.
The pair recently made a special appearance on ONE Friday Fights 72 as they intensified their rivalry with face-off. The video uploaded by ONE Championship on Instagram captured the moment when the two fighters clashed heads but still exchanged kind words about each other.

Previously, these fighters fought each other at Yokkao 31 & 32 which ended badly for Haggerty as he was ruled out of the contest by the ringside doctor due to a massive cut above his eye. However, the circumstances are different now. Haggerty is now a two-sport ONE World Champion and one of the promotion’s best strikers. But even as a division king, Jonathan Haggerty wants to leave no room for defeat and is extensively training, as revealed by his latest video.

Jonathan Haggerty is in no mood to leave any stone unturned for his highly anticipated showdown against “The Kicking Machine,” Superlek Kiatmoo9. This fight will mark Superlek’s bantamweight debut after dominating the flyweight division. Building on the lessons learned from his previous defeat to Superlek, Haggerty has intensified his training, as showcased in his YouTube video titled “Road to Superlek.”
In the video, he also gave some insight, saying, “Right, my movement is there, we’re ready. And I haven’t really started camp, but the movement’s there. We’ve got our plan for the 12-week fight camp. Where we’re going to go for it and what we’re going to do for it, so [I am] motivated now.”
