Boris Becker Denies Simona Halep Rumors

The reigning Roland Garros champion, Simona Halep announced about her fortunes to have the guidance of Darren Cahill. However, Cahill decides to take a year off from tennis and he prefers to spend some time with his family and children. Boris Becker was invited by Ion Tiriac for a Ceremony at a Country Club in Romania. The Romanian newspaper “Libertatea” announced that Becker would work as a consultant for Halep. And in the month of November, it was reported that Halep will be working with the 51-year-old German.

Right away, the six-time Grand slam champion addresses his denial,  “I guess Simona Halep, but I will definitely say neither her coach nor her advisers”, he announced. “There is absolutely nothing on it, no time.” However, Becker admires the Romanian World Number one and he later tweeted “It was never discussed”. He also informed that he was in Romania to make his dear friend and mentor Ion Tiriac happy. Becker trained the legend, Novak Djokovic for three years and the Serb won six major titles under the supervision of the German maestro. Since August of 2017, he works as “Head of Men’s Tennis” at the German Tennis Federation. He also works as a Grand Slam TV-expert.

After parting ways with her former coach, Cahill, Simona Halep decides not to hire a coach for the upcoming tennis season. “I thought about it and I will not have a coach in the following period. I want to go to some tournaments on my own and we’ll see how that goes”, Halep announced. As a tennis player, she aims to add a new Grand Slam title in 2019 on her name. The year 2018 was an exceptional year of the Romanian, she won a Grand Slam, ended the year as World Number one for the second consecutive year in WTA tennis and also she was conferred a Doctorate degree from a Romanian university.
