Italian Open 2019:- Victoria Azarenka Thrashes Elina Svitolina in an Epic Three Set Battle

The last match on the WTA courts on the day two of Italian Open 2019 was held between the World Number 51, Victoria Azarenka and the two-time defending champion in Rome, Elina Svitolina on the center court of the Rome arena. 

Victoria Azarenka defeated Elina Svitolina 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 in an exciting round of 32 battle in the Rome Masters 2019. The match began around 7.30 pm local time followed by some halts due to the weather conditions and the quality tennis by both WTA ladies ended post 11.30 pm local time.  

The Ukrainian, Svitolina held the opening serve comfortably. With Azarenka controlling the ball from the t-point of the tennis court made Svitolina run back and forth. Despite the Belarusian dominating, the incredible court covering from Svitolina’s end, aided her to acquire a break of serve. Failing to overcome, Azarenka’s ascendancy the fifth seed Ukrainian dropped her next service game.

In the next game, Victoria Azarenka made a hold despite trailing behind 0-40. Later, the six-feet tall Belarusian made unforced errors on breakpoints and misses her receiving game. Svitolina committed two double faults and despite that, she made a hold and later sealed the set on the first set point as Victoria Azarenka widens a groundstroke.

Victoria Azarenka began by breaking the serve of the reigning champion, Svitolina in the second set. Later the rain interrupted the game and the ladies paused twice at the beginning of the second set.

The two-time Australian Open champion, Victoria Azarenka sprinted to take a 4-1 lead as Svitolina lost her grip in the second set. Then the match got suspended again due to a heavy downpour. After a prolonged wait, the match resumed and Azarenka sealed the set by rewarding the 24-year-old, Svitolina a baguette in the second set.

In the decider, Elina Svitolina broke Azarenka’s serve and later consolidated with an unplayable volley. Again, Svitolina’s forehand winners compensated for her five consecutive game losses in the second as she held a double break and took a 3-0 lead.

Azarenka could manage to break Elina Svitolina to love, but the unstoppable Ukrainian kept her dominance undaunted as she took a 4-1 lead in the decider. The former World Number one, Victoria Azarenka craving to stay in Rome breaks Svitolina back at 4-2.

The trend of exchanging breaks continued and Svitolina raced to take a 5-2 lead in the final set. While serving for the match, Svitolina squandered match points as Victoria Azarenka extended her stayed in the day two of Rome Masters 2019 and later brought the third set to 5-4 as she held her serve with a magnificent show on the net. 

Victoria Azarenka was incessant on the volley and gave a tough time to the World Number six and equalized the set score 5-5 with some phenomenal tennis skills. And then, she held her serve and took a lead in the decider at 6-5. The Belarusian, Victoria Azarenka dethroned the reigning champion in Rome with some remarkable tennis and took the final set 7-5.
