IT’S HAPPENING: Microsoft Xbox Teases Potential Integration with Discord

Mobile and PC gamers around the world love Discord which allows for uninterrupted in-game communication. The app also offers other modes of communication to its users that include text, image, video and audio. Unfortunately, the app is not available for gaming consoles. As a result, PlayStation and Xbox users have been waiting patiently for it.
Discord’s Twitter recently announced that the company is deep in hack week where they “test out wild new experimental features for discord.” Accordingly, it urged users to suggest some ideas too:

Xbox responds to an “integration of some kind”
Stein Ekin tagged Xbox in his reply to Discord’s tweet. He requested both companies to have an “integration of some kind.”
It is funny because Stein himself is the social media manager for Xbox and it is possible that he might have been talking to his own self.

Certainly, this is a pre-planned interaction between the two corporations and it has left the fans confused. In fact, this is not the first time that the companies have interacted publicly, and eventually teased a collaboration of some sort.
A few weeks back, Discord had bragged about its several features and tweeted, “why the hell do we have so many features.”
Xbox was yet again quick to respond with a comment,” But what if you added…more?”
But what if you added… more?

Why do gamers want Discord on their consoles?
Discord started off as a simple communication app, however, it has taken up many roles since then. Almost every game has an official Discord channel, where it shares valuable information with the members. Streamers and content creators around the world also host their own servers to interact with their fans.
However, with the introduction of cross-play, Discord has become a necessity for Xbox users. They can use an app called Quarrel to access Discord’s desktop version, but it is very buggy and players would rather use a fully optimized Discord for consoles. Playing cross-play games while being able to chat with PC players will be a tremendous improvement for them.

If Xbox and Discord work a deal before the launch of the Series X and S, it will naturally incline gamers around the world to buy Microsoft’s next-gen console. PlayStation, on the other hand, seems to have no plans for a collaboration of this sort.
