The GOAT of alpine skiing is back. Mikaela Shiffrin is running a riot at the season-end World Cup finals and safe to say, she is unstoppable. On Thursday, Mikaela won her 4th skiing World Cup title, successfully retaining her World No. 1 position in the process. It was a tough competition with her arch-rival, Petra Vlhova. But ultimately, Mikaela emerged victorious.
Shiffrin won the downhill, followed by a second-place finish at the Super-G. She was ahead of Petra by a fair margin of points. This is Mikaela’s 4th crystal globe win. No doubt, the Beijing Winter Olympics was a disappointing experience for the Champion, but now she is back and here to stay.

Mikaela took to Instagram to share her post-win joy. The athlete is grateful for her win and congratulated her other skiers as well for their performances.

Mikaela left the Beijing Winter Olympics disheartened. She took part in 6 events but lost out in all 6. For an athlete of her caliber, this was really frustrating. But Mikaela wasn’t one to give up so easily.

She came back home, took a break, and began preparing for the season-end World Cup finals thereafter. All of her hard work paid off when she was crowned with her 4th Crystal Globe win. Prior to this, she had won the overall titles from 2017 to 2019.
“This has been a rollercoaster season filled with many emotions (and it’s not over yet!)” posted Mikaela. Mikaela is now tied with Lindsey Vonn, who also won 4 overall titles during her career. She revealed that it was indeed a dream that turned into reality with her win.

She also congratulated Reginald Mowinckel, Michelle Gisin, Federica Brignone, and Elena Curtoni for their wins. Not to forget, earlier, Mikaela also shared how proud she was of her boyfriend Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who secured the World Downhill title.
Mikaela pens down a heartwarming message for her boyfriend
Aleksander Aamodt Kilde secured the downhill title. The ski power couple had a successful World Cup stint this month. Previously, Kilde has also won two medals at the Olympics.

“@akilde … it’s hard to put into words how inspiring your season has been… just electrifying to witness. I’m so happy for you finally getting to hold both of those globes in your hands,” wrote Shiffrin.
Prior to the downhill, Kilde had already secured the Crystal Glove title for Super-G on Thursday. Remarkably, the power couple completely dominated the alpine ski World Cup and took home two Crystal Globes with them.
