“It’s Underrated” – Novak Djokovic Rates Roger Federer’s Volley

Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray gave us some real gems yesterday when they conversed on Instagram. Discussing some interesting aspects of the sport, the pair were really open and honest. Not surprisingly, the duo even touched upon the topic of Swiss great Roger Federer.
During the live session, Djokovic and Murray discussed many of their fellow professional players. And when you talk about professional tennis, it is difficult not to land on Roger Federer.

One interesting topic Novak and Andy touched upon was assembling the most perfect tennis player by considering the best shots from different players. As the topic turned to the volley, Novak did not have too many thoughts for anyone other than Federer.
“Roger. I mean he would definitely be there. I mean he is one of the most complete players ever to play the game. We all know how great he is. I think it is a bit underrated. I don’t know if people really talk about his ability to come up with serve and volley; accurate play at the most challenging times in the match, against us (great returners). He was really not intimidated so much by the return. He would place, especially on the quicker surfaces, he would disrupt your rhythm.”

Djokovic explains it perfectly here. While Roger Federer has always had a great service, he could always rely on serve-and-volley to get him out of sticky situations.
Djokovic is one of the best returners the sport has ever seen. To put him off his name, a bit of variety is always welcome and Roger Federer had the perfect way to do just that.

Over the years we have had the pleasure of watching these two titans duke it out on the biggest stage in the sport. While Djokovic has edged the rivalry, the serve and volley has proven to be a big weapon for Roger Federer.
