UFC 249’s main event was in jeopardy until recently, when Justin Gaethje swooped in and saved it. Gaethje will replace Khabib Nurmagomedov to fight Tony Ferguson. Khabib, unfortunately, cannot leave Russia due to the travel bans in place and will, therefore, will not be able to compete against Tony Ferguson. Their match up has been postponed for the 5th time now.

After a lot of controversies, drama and rumors, it’s official. UFC 249 will happen! Dana White has pulled off the seemingly impossible. Of course, Gaethje is also to be credited for saving this event.

Gaethje will battle Ferguson for the interim belt on the 18th of April. A lot of people have their favorite picks. Here is what Israel Adesanya said about the fight.

Adesanya said, “ I’ve never really gambled at Vegas, that’s odd! But if I was a betting man, which I am, I’d say Tony Ferguson.” Adesanya picks Tony Ferguson to come out victorious against Gaethje. He backs Tony Ferguson and his experience and thinks he will get the job done against Justin Gaethje.

But Adesanya was all for the bravery Gaethje has shown by taking this fight. Being a last-minute match up Gaethje won’t have as much time as he would have if he knew he was supposed to fight. He steps into the octagon on short notice and that actually might prove to be a hiccup in his case.

Adesanya also speaks of Gaethje’s tweet that read “ I’m terrified and I fu**ing love it” Adesanya said,” That is raw. That is beautiful, in a moment like this. That just gets you hard man. I just wanna get my work done.”
