18-year-old Jannik Sinner has been constantly making headlines for achieving immense success at such a young age. However, the Italian’s latest accolade might just shock you as well.

Sinner announced via his official Instagram account that he has signed with Rolex as their global ambassador. This puts him in some elite company.

Over the years, Rolex has put its money on many tennis players. Most of the times, it has been predicated upon the fact that the star has already made it big in tennis or is on the cusp of big things.

To name a few, these included stars like Maria Sharapova, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Ana Ivanovic, Garbine Muguruza and the most prominent name in their stable- Roger Federer.

What makes Jannik Sinner an exception is the fact that he’s a very promising star at best if you analyse the current results. He is not in the top 50 of the ATP rankings. Sinner also has only one grand slam victory at this point.

What is the reason then for Rolex to show so much confidence in a budding talent? Let’s find out.

Why Is Jannik Sinner A Special Talent?

The fact that you can’t ignore is that Sinner is too big of a prodigy for his age. When 2019 began, he was almost unknown in tennis circles. Things started to change when he became the first player born in 2001 to win a Challenger.

Sinner continued with the momentum, winning two more Challengers. However, his high point came when he gained a victory against top 10 player Gael Monfils at the European Open. Not just that, he went all the way to the semi-finals, where he lost to Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka.
