Amid the never ending offseason drama, the Boston Celtics dropped a historical update. Jaylen Brown bagged the biggest NBA contract worth close to $304 million. Meanwhile, fans on social media questioned whether the franchise over-looked Jayson Tatum while giving Brown with a massive contract. Moreover, days after this monumental update, a former Celtics star expressed his views on the star duo and predicted a shaky future in a recent podcast.

The last two seasons have been extremely disappointing for the Celtics fans. In 2022 NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors dismantled the Boston force. Following that, the team succumbed to underdogs Miami Heat in the Conference Finals. Notably, on both occasions, the team had stamped their authority with regular season records. However, the crucial games didn’t go their favor. Amid these confusing times, the team’s front traded their star defender, Marcus Smart, to the Memphis Grizzlies.

While there was a lot of noise surrounding the Jaylen Brown‘s max contract, former Celtics star Evan Turner made a bold opinion about the duo’s future. Going forward, the Celts have a slightly different team compared to their last four years. Marcus Smart’s absence from the squad could play a major role in the team’s performance. Moreover, Turner expressed his doubts about the duo in the future.

Appearing in the recent episode of Gil’s Arena, Turner joined alongside Andre Iguodala and discussed an array of topics. Notably, he made his opinion on the future of the duo. When he was asked about the leadership of the duo, he went straight up, praising the duo. He said, “I definitely think they can raise the banner for the Celtics.” He further assured that Tatum would also get a bigger contract. However, he didn’t stop there, he went on to point out the team’s missing block in the last two seasons. He highlighted where the team crashed out after leading the 2022 Finals series with 2-1 against the Warriors.

Furthermore, he said, “Tatum’s gonna win a couple championships.”

As soon as Brown cracked this iconic 5-year-deal max deal with the Celtics, fans argued whether he deserved it ahead of Tatum. Fans even went to an extend to point out the flaws in the stars game. However, on the business end, some say Brown was in the right place at the right time. The probable payout that Brown would receive in his contract would be around $288,260,000. Furthermore, The Ringer article reported that, in the coming years, there will be many contracts which will top Brown’s contract. Notably, Tatum is set to sign his super max contract in a couple of years.
