Jeremy Stephens Shuts Down Allegations of Faking the Eye Injury Against Yair Rodriguez

The fight between Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez generated a lot of buzz in the MMA community for all the wrong reasons. It was an unfortunate eye poke that made the referee call the fight a no contest.

Seconds into the first round Yair Rodriguez unintentionally eye poked Jeremy Stephens. Though Stephens was given full 5 mins by Herd Dean to recover and continue the fight, he was not able to open his left eye. This made the Mexican fans in the arena show their frustrations by throwing cans, bottles, and beers to the octagon and also to Jeremy Stephens while he was being escorted to the back by UFC securities.

Many believed that Jeremy Stephens was faking the eye injury to get an easy payday and he was not hurt at all. While some fans did not doubt the heart of Stephens. Well, Jeremy Stephens has come up with his statements and has talked about the injury from last night on ESPN.

Jeremy Stephens said that both eyes were hurt during the exchange with Rodriguez. Although he felt excruciating pain in his left eye inside the octagon, his right eye started to sting when he went to the locker room.”

“Ya I was poked in both. When I went back my right eye was really stinging pretty bad There was a scratch on that eye as well”

Shutting down all the allegations of faking the injury, Stephens claimed:

“I have poked people in the eye before, I have kicked people in nuts, I have been hit in the nuts. It’s just one of those things where you get glazed and it’s an eye poke. It’s like a paper cut. this shit hurts. You definitely need two eyes. I have fought with a broken orbital like I said. That was painful. But I was able to see with a little bit of blurred vision. But in this one, it glazed both my eyes.”

Not only that Jeremy Stephens is also ready to run it back as soon as possible. According to Stephens, he is in the best shape of his life at the moment and he had an excellent training camp prior to the fight in Mexico. Apart from that, we can expect to see some animosity between Stephens and Rodriguez the next time as Rodriguez has made some unpleasant comments on Stephens’s intention to decide not to continue the fight.

However, Jeremy Stephens wants the rematch against Yair Rodriguez in the USA.
