Earlier, there was a spot of tragic news for the NASCAR community. As it turns out, NASCAR radio host Skip Clayton passed away. Many fondly know him for being a fountain of knowledge in the sporting arena, particularly in NASCAR. In fact, he even earned the nickname, ‘Memory Lane’ from friends and co-workers. Following the news, living legend Jimmie Johnson paid tribute to him.
Many in the field also know Clayton as one of the kindest people in the community. In addition to that, he is also described as an incredibly hard worker. It is also worth noting that he not only covered NASCAR, but his expertise blanketed a variety of sports for the ABC network. Furthermore, he hosted a weekly hour-long show called Racing Wrap and authored and co-authored a few books.

It was a terrible week for the NASCAR fraternity
The 7-time Cup Series champion acknowledged the impact that Clayton had on the sport. All in all, it has been a tragic few days for the American motorsports community. Earlier, IndyCar legend Al Unser Sr passed away, to the shock of many. Later on, Nancy Wood, wife of one of the Wood brothers, also passed away a couple of days later.

Suffice to say, the sport is reeling from the losses of such beloved figures. Without a doubt, Clayton’s loss will be a big blow to many who knew him and respected him. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, the show must go on, and NASCAR definitely has to move 0n from this.
However, it will be difficult for anyone to try and fill in the void that Skip Clayton has left behind. There are few who are as knowledgeable as he was and as well-liked. So, the entire NASCAR community will miss the dearly departed Clayton.
