Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to Use T-shirt he Wore Against Roger Federer to help Fight Coronavirus

Defeating the winner of 103 ATP titles Roger Federer in the finals of a Masters 1000 event will certainly go down as one of the most iconic moment for the former World No.5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The Frenchman is auctioning off the t-shirt that he wore when he defeated Federer in the 2014 Rogers Cup final in Toronto. The money raised through the auction will be used to help the medical staff fighting the coronavirus pandemic in France.

The 2014 Candian Open was Tsonga’s second career Masters 1000 title, coming almost six years after his first at Paris Bercy in 2008. He became just the second French player after Guy Forget to win two titles at the Masters level. Moreover, no French player had ever won a Canadian title before Tsonga’s success.

Adidas athletes in France have decided to come together in the fight against the coronavirus by supporting hospital staff. Tsonga also joined the initiative last week. He also urged his followers to make a donation on the platform dedicated to this initiative.

“With the team athletes Adidas France, we want to help the heroes of the medical profession and the  Fondation Hôpitaux. We are launching an auction of our jerseys,” wrote Tsonga.

Solidarity is crucial in the time of crisis. Hence the tennis fraternity is also joining forces to raise money for vulnerable families during the public crisis. Many players including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Nick Kyrgios, Ana Ivanovic and others have made donations to combat the virus. Tsonga now joins the list of athletes

We hope that more and more people help the world in fighting the coronavirus in any possible way. The least we can do is to stay indoors and block the chain of the virus.
