UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones has dogged jail time. He entered a guilty plea which will keep him out of jail for now.

Jon Jones was arrested last week in Albuquerque, N.M. The police officer reported 2 shots being fired from a vehicle. On investigating the vehicle, they found a handgun under Jones’ car seat, as well as an open bottle of Mezcal in his vehicle. Jon Jones also failed a field sobriety test.

Jon Jones in order to avoid more jail time entered a guilty plea to the charge of driving while intoxicated, stemming from an incident in New Mexico, on the 26th of March. Jones agreed to one year of supervised probation as a part of the plea deal, provided he follows the conditions laid down.

He further also has to pay a $500 fine and take part in a 90-day outpatient treatment program. The program will take place via video conferencing. This is due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Michael Patrick, Bernalillo, County district attorney director of communications said, “His attorney and Mr. Jones have been made aware that if he fails to do this, the state will seek to impose the balance of any jail time without regard for any exceptional circumstances.”
