Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz went to war in the main event of UFC 244 for the first-ever BMF title. Masvidal fairly dominated Diaz for the first three rounds, but it seemed Diaz was making a come back in the third round. However, the ringside doctors stopped the fight due to several cuts around Diaz’s eye, leading the BMF title fight ending in an anti-climax.

Since then the stoppage has been the center of controversy in the MMA community. Nate Diaz even said that fight was stopped before it even started and he was about to turn it up in the fourth and fifth rounds. However, the fight is already in the books leaving the fans wondering what would have happened if the fight had continued for 5 rounds.

Nate Diaz was not pleased with the decision as he announced retirement after the fight saying:

Jorge Masvidal has three massive wins this year including two spectacular knockout wins over Ben Askren and Darren Till. After the win over Diaz, Masvidal is the next in line for the title shot after Kamaru Usman defends his title against Colby Covington.

Although both Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz assured the fans for a rematch after the fight ended due to doctor’s stoppage UFC president, Dana White seemed uninterested in a rematch between Masvidal and Diaz. White also said that Masvidal has some big things ahead of him which implies a fight against the winner of Colby Covington vs Kamaru Usman.
