Journalist Confirms Harry Potter Game is “Still Happening”

The global pandemic scenario has disrupted production across all forms of industry, including the gaming industry. Several video game developers and publishers found their plans disrupted after the cancellation of this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The E3 is a convention where upcoming AAA titles are announced or revealed.

As a result of the cancellation, several studios, and publishers have resorted to independent events or announcements, to showcase their games. Many others have teamed up with Sony or Microsoft for the same. Recently, a lot of predictions made about the reveal of upcoming games have turned out accurate.

Last week, Gamereactor made some predictions based on rumors, and a considerable amount of those turned out accurate. Demon Souls, Resident Evil 8, Horizon, and a game by Housemarque were all revealed at The Future Of Gaming event for PS5, as predicted by the website.

Therefore, another game mentioned in the report is raising eyebrows now. It is a game from the Harry Potter franchise.

Harry Potter game is “still happening”

According to Gamereactor, Warner Bros. would have revealed the Harry Potter game at the E3 this year. Back in 2018, footage from the action-RPG, undergoing development, was leaked to the delight of the Harry Potter fans. However, to this day, there is no official word about the game and this has fuelled speculation about its existence.

It is likely the game has made progression since 2018. But, it’s still quite a few months away from announcement, according to the report. Amidst all this, new information has emerged, suggesting the game is still under development and has not been scraped off.

Video game reporter at Bloomberg News, Jason Schreier has revealed the Harry Potter game is “still happening”. On June 12, the credible industry insider confirmed the news on his Twitter account. “To the many people who keep asking, yes the Harry Potter game that leaked two years ago is still happening,” he wrote.

However, he is not sure when Warner Bros. will officially announce the game. Fans expected some form of an announcement or reveal at either of the recently conducted PlayStation or Xbox events for next-gen games. But, that didn’t happen.

The reporter further added he sympathizes with the developers, as working on a Harry Potter game at this moment is “complicated”. Recently, JK Rowling made some transphobic comments on her social media and drew criticism for it.

Besides all that, a credible insider confirming the development for a Harry Potter game leaked two years ago is good news for the fans of the franchise.
