World No.2 Karolina Pliskova collaborates with coach Daniel Vallverdu for the 2020 season after parting ways with coach Conchita Martinez earlier this month.

Karolina Pliskova had a successful 2019 season as she won four titles and also reached her first final in a Premier WTA. Following her consistent run in the 2019 season, Pliskova climbed up the WTA rankings to World No.2 in September.

However, the Czech failed to win her maiden grand slam title and decided to change her coaching staff at the end of the season. Along with Daniel Vallverdu, Olga Savchuk will also be a part of Pliskova’s coaching staff for the next season.

“From the beginning, he (Daniel Vallverdu) was one of my priorities. He has had excellent results, understands tennis like few and I believe he has a lot to offer me. I am already looking forward to the start of preparation,” Karolina Pliskova said after confirming their partnership.

Vallverdu also praised the Czech and said: “Karolina is a great player and I look forward to helping her achieve her goals with my work. WTA is something new to me, but I like challenges.”

While it will be Vallverdu’s first experience to coach a WTA player, the Venezuelan coach has worked with Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Juan Martin Del Potro, and Grigor Dimitrov in the past. He has also worked with the then top Czech player – Tomas Berdych, but couldn’t help him to win a grand slam title.

According to reports, Karolína Pliskova has already started her fitness training and will move to Spain, next week, where Daniel Vallverdu and Olga Savchuk will join her team. She will then move to Australia after Christmas to commence her season in Brisbane, where she will aim to defend her title.
