Katie Taylor faced a lot of criticism after her first victory over Delfine Persoon last June. She now has a shot at proving her worth and shutting down all critics.

Her win back in June 2019 completed her collection of all the belts at 135lbs. But that wasn’t without controversy. She faced harsh criticism and backlash from pundits and experts of the sport.

They all felt that Taylor was just fortunate with the decision. And those words have been ringing in her ears ever since. However, she does agree that the match was a close one, and now she has the chance to redeem herself.

Speaking at an interview with Sky Sports Boxing about what this fight means to her, Taylor said, “Since January I’ve been training for the Amanda Serrano fight. Obviously, that feel through and I was delighted to hear that Persoon was available for this fight. This is the fight that everyone wanted to see, and this rematch was always inevitable.”

She added, “The first fight has been hanging over my head this past year. I feel like I have a bit of unfinished business in this fight. So I’m delighted that it’s made now and I have a chance to clear everything up on Saturday night.”
