The COVID pandemic forced E3 to cancel its 2020 edition and host the 2021 edition online. However, the last memory anyone has of the annual expo is Keanu Reeves taking the stage in a ‘breathtaking’ moment. Unfortunately, the celebrity lineup for the upcoming edition of the expo isn’t as star-studded as the previous ones.

E3 2021 has announced T-Pain, talent from 100 Thieves and Team Liquid, and voice actors from popular games as its celebrity guests. While this might not be the most popular group of celebrities, the event has surely seen many stars grace its stage. Therefore, ahead of the event, it would be worth looking at all the popular celebrities who appeared at E3.

Hollywood has been a go-to industry for when publishers wanted someone to present their games at the annual expo. The most recent presentation was by Keanu Reeves, who took the stage in 2019 to tease the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game. Keanu has played the lead in CD Projekt RED’s much-awaited game and thus was a key element in its presentation.

Apart from Keanu, another Hollywood superstar to have graced the E3 stage was none other than Robin Williams. The popular comedian showed up at the 2006 edition to present a lengthy gameplay demo of Spore. Her daughter also showed up for a Nintendo 3DS presentation owing to her name Zelda, after the Princess from the famous franchise.

Popular Holywood directors Steven Spielberg & James Cameron also appeared at E3 in 2009. The former talked in length about his upcoming Avatar movie after taking the Ubisoft stage. On the other hand, Cameron was a part of the Xbox presentation where Microsoft displayed the proof of concept for the Kinect.

Beatles’ stars and Drake also showed up at the annual expo

2009 was certainly a gifted year for E3. Not only did major Hollywood directors show up at the event, but legendary musicians also took the stage to surprise the crowd. Microsoft had planned to announce Beatles: The Rock band in the 2009 edition of the expo. Naturally, the best people to lead that presentation would be Beatles members themselves. Therefore, the crowd went wild as soon as Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr took the stage.

The remaining Beatles star weren’t the only musicians to have appeared at E3. In fact, famous hip-hop stars Drake, and Snoop Dogg have also made appearances at the event. While Drake made a brief appearance during the FIFA 14 demo in 2013, Snoop Dogg’s presentation is definitely one of the coolest E3 moments.

The superstar rapper nailed his Battlefield gameplay demo in 2016. Snoop candidly smoked a blunt while playing the game live in front of thousands. Clearly, it was E3’s one of the most unforgettable celebrity appearances, much like the others on this list.
