Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian on investing

Alexis started Seven Seven Six in 2020 and the firm has now gone on to invest in 17 start-ups. He has had a history of being an investor and entrepreneur and famously is the co-founder of the social media website, Reddit. Despite helping a few startups, Alexis feels he could have done things differently, and hence he wants to do it right with the help of Seven Seven Six.

“When I thought about that track record, and all the things that I’ve been proud of as an entrepreneur and investor, I couldn’t help but feel like I was celebrating the cook. I’m still very proud of that track record, but I know that I could have done better. I want the idea that we’re always on the first starting line trying to do better in pursuit of greater returns.”

Alexis is also learning from his experience as an entrepreneur and investor to help the budding newcomers. He admits to making some mistakes in the past that could have been avoided and now with his firm he wants to give direction to the founders and entrepreneurs of the companies he will invest in.

Investment has been another foray that Serena has done well. She has not been an extensive investor like her husband but she has helped a few startups. But, like her husband, she has also called for helping the new entrepreneurs and hence that is what drives her to invest.
