Kerber Hires a New Coach

The three-time Grand Slam champion, Angelique Kerber has parted ways with her coach Wim Fissette. She split with Fisset ahead of the WTA Finals in Singapore because of the “differences of opinion as to the future direction,” with her Belgian coach. Despite having a successful 2018 season she decides to replace Fissette. She surpassed Serena Williams at the Wimbledon to seize third Grand Slam crown. The Gerrman just dropped a set in the all the seven matches played at SW19. She reached the last four at the 2018 Australian Open. Additionally, she concludes the Number two tennis player.

Kerber appoints Ranier Schuettler as her new coach. He is a retired German professional tennis player. Schuettler was the finalist at 2003 Australian Open. Also, he has reached at least the second week at all four Grand Slams. Schuettler won four ATP titles in his career. Schuettler was a tournament director in Geneva. He ran Academy in Offenbach with Alexander Waske where Kerber trained years ago. Also, he was helped out Janko Tipsarevic to make a comeback to professional tennis after struggling from injuries.

“I am really looking forward to the opportunity of working with Angelique during this phase of her career,” Schuettler addressed to the WTA Insider. “She has obviously shown what a great champion she is and I hope my experience can bring a fresh perspective to an already strong team.” The 42-year-old, Schuettler joined the Team Kerber this month as Kerber begins with her pre-season training session. She is excited to have a German-speaking coach in her team Germany’s pride, the German woman decides to kick-start her 2019 season at the Sydney International which would commence in the second week of January. Angelique looks forward to increasing the major tally in her account and is motivated to maintain the momentum of the 2018 season in the upcoming days.
