Just to be on the safe side, Alfa Romeo flew in Marcus Ericsson as a back up, if Raikkonen was not up to it. The good news for Alfa is that Kimi Raikkonen seems to be fully fit and ready to race at his favourite, and most successful circuit.

On his injury, “Yeah, I’m getting too old, I always said that this sport is getting too dangerous, maybe drinking beer is more safe, Usually you don’t get injured, you just get a hangover.”

He confirmed that it was his brake leg that suffered the pulled muscle, but he figured that it would be okay. But in any case, the team had a backup plan and someone had to travel, regardless of the outcome.

Kimi Raikkonen was not the only summer break injury casualty, as McLaren’s Lando Norris also injured his leg. The Briton confirmed during one of his video game streams, that he injured it while going for a jog. The good news is that he has fully recovered, if his presence at last weekend’s MotoGP race in Silverstone was any proof.
