Venus Williams crashed out of US Open 2020 after a straight-set loss to Karolína Muchová in the first round. In a disappointing result for her fans, Venus was rather happy with how she played.

The former World No. 1 turned 40 this year but still commands a wide skill set and aggression. Many people still respect her and believe that she has what it takes to perform at the highest level for years to come.

Venus played in her 22nd US Open, which is the most in US Open history. In addition, the American is a former champion at the Flushing Meadows, winning the Grand Slam in 2000 and 2001.

“Yeah, it’s been a really fast-paced summer. Just having to start very quickly in every tournament with really kind of no room to breathe or adjust during the tournament. That’s been a little bit tough,” Venus said.

Talking about her game, Venus was happy with her effort. She evaluated herself and said that she didn’t play badly but was always on the backfoot as she started slow. She praised her opponent and indicated that the margins were tiny and Muchová played a little better than her.

“To be honest, I’m really happy with my game. I don’t think I played badly tonight. Just needed to start faster than what I did. I’m pretty happy with how I played. She just played a little better,” she said.
