The Kooyong Classic is an exhibition tournament played on outdoor hard courts. Eight players participate in the event and play 3 matches each to determine the standings from the first place to the eighth.

Like the Australian Open, the Kooyong Classic is also played in Melbourne and on Plexicushion which makes it an even better warm-up event than the ATP 250 tournaments like the Qatar Open and the Brisbane Open as it simulates the Australian Open conditions.
