Kristina Mladenovic and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Receive Hefty Fine for Unsportsmanlike Conduct at Wimbledon Championships 2021

French tennis player Kristina Mladenovic and Russian player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova were part of the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Unfortunately, their journey didn’t last long as the Frenchwoman crashed out in the opening round and the Russian saw the exit in the third round.

To add to their misery, Mladenovic, and Pavlyuchenkova were fined for their bad behavior during their losses. Both players were frustrated with their performances during those losses, which they expressed in what has been perceived as unsportsmanlike conduct.

The Frenchwoman was slapped with the heaviest fine of $7500 and the Russian was fined $3000. Besides them, there were a few prominent names from the ATP who were fined too. However, Mladenovic topped the overall list of fines received by players at the Wimbledon Championships 2021.

Coming to tennis, Kristina and Anastasia were part of the doubles competition too and in that category too, their journey ended in the opening round. The Russian took part in the mixed doubles but handed her opponents a walkover.

Both players have played tournaments on the grass this season, but they have not been able to go far into those events. Prior to the grass season, they were seen at Roland Garros. Kristina has been on a poor run as she ended her stint in Paris after suffering defeat in the second round.

On the other hand, Anastasia impressed the tennis circuit as she reached the French Open final for the first time in her career. It was her best performance in a Grand Slam event.

Now that the grass season is over for them, they will be looking to regroup and set their focus on the US swing. The last Grand Slam event of the season, the US Open, is played on the hardcourts and they will be looking to bounce back after their debacle on the grass. It will be interesting to see how they fare in the events to come.
