Originally, Pulev was scheduled to fight Anthony Joshua in 2017. But he was forced to pull out from the fight. He sustained a shoulder injury during a training camp forcing this withdrawal. Pulev then went ahead and reclaimed his mandatory position last year. The fight with Anthony Joshua was now scheduled to down at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, on the 20th of June.

Pulev said the fight will only happen “towards the end of the year”. He also stated that he would have no problem fighting Joshua in an empty venue, without the presence of any live fans.
