McLaren driver Lando Norris declared that since Albon had two sets of medium tyres on standby, he was most likely to win the rookie battle. In the end, as predicted, Albon won the rookie tussle when he finished 11th, just shy of a point. However, Lando Norris was in a decent position, until he took out Racing Point driver Lance Stroll. That action brought out the safety car to bunch up the field, with Lewis Hamilton leading them.

Meanwhile, Russell was languishing at the back, alongside teammate Robert Kubica. However, in the championship, Albon may have won the Spanish GP 2019 battle, but Lando Norris is winning the war.

With a 6th and an 8th, Lando Norris has racked up 12 points while Albon has 3 points, courtesy, a 9th and 10th place finish. George Russell has yet to open his 2019 F1 account, and given how terrible the Williams team are, it may not happen this year.
