The Lave Cup tournament has officially become the part of ATP Tour this year and today, Laver Cup announced, the World Number four and five Dominic Thiem and  Alexander Zverev as part of the European squad. Along with them, the Italian who made a debut into the top ten ATP rankings this week, Fabio Fognini will be sharing the tennis court with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at Laver Cup 2019.

Both Thiem and Fognini had a decent run this year on the ATP circuit, they pulled off their first ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells and Monte-Carlo respectively. The new era contender, Thiem is looking forward to sharing the court with the legends of the sport and learn the maximum out of it.

“Being part of Team Europe at Laver Cup in Prague was an unbelievable experience. It’s so unique being on the same team as the players you are usually fighting against across the net,” Thiem said.

“When we played together in Prague (in 2017), Rafa and Roger cheered me on from the side of the court and gave me tactics for the matches. It was cool to have such legends of the game supporting me. I’m really looking forward to experiencing the Laver Cup again.”

The Italian, Fabio Fognini will be making is debut in the event. “I’m very excited to be playing the Laver Cup in September,” Fognini said. “Playing as part of a team is special in tennis, where we are more used to having a one-on-one battle every match. I’m looking forward to competing alongside all the great players in Team Europe.”

Team Europe will be led by the Swede, Bjorn Borg and the Team World will be captained by the American, John Isner. Presently, the sixth player in Team Europe is yet to be decided and on the contrary, in Team World only the Argentine, Diego Schwartzman‘s spot has been confirmed. This year, the Lave Cup tournament will be held in Geneva, Switzerland.
