The iconic Laver Cup 2021 met its curtain call with Team Europe lifting the trophy for the fourth time. In the press conference, everyone from Team World applauded John McEnroe and congratulated Team Europe for their performance. Notably, Reilly Opelka opened up on Roger Federer’s guest appearance in Boston.

Team Europe triumphed in Boston to claim their 4th title, beating Team World in sublime fashion. In the press conference, John McEnroe hailed praises for his side’s dominant display. However, going off-topic, Opelka had a little something to say about Roger Federer.

Speaking of Roger Federer’s presence at the Laver Cup, Reily said, “Another highlight was definitely seeing Roger for the first time. When they turned the camera to him, the whole place just went nuts. Crazy the power one guy in the room can have and just change the mood of everyone in there. Only a couple of guys in the world who can do that, and Roger is one of them.”

The blistering reception Federer received from fans left the American youngster absolutely stunned. Hence, he talked about the power of one person which can just change the environment of the stadium. According to him, not everyone has such kind of aura.

Opelka also expressed his admiration for John. Having spent a wonderful time in Boston, Opelka thanked everyone for the lovely experience, notably calling McEnroe one of the coolest guys in the sport.

A disappointing campaign in Boston

Reilly Opelka started his Laver Cup campaign facing Casper Ruud. However, the tough battle ended with the 24-year-old losing to the Norwegian in straight sets.

His next match was in the doubles competition with his partner Denis Shapovalov. The duo managed to clinch a set against Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev. However, the doubles team from Europe won the contest.
