Listed as questionable before the game, LeBron James played 37 minutes and scored 32 points in the game between Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

James, 34, showed no signs of injury or fatigue as he led the Lakers to yet another victory.

Before the start of play, James was expected to get some rest in a busy Lakers schedule. It was their third of a five-game road trip and fourth away game in the last five. A sour shoulder to LeBron James made everyone think that he would be rested for the game.

However, it was never in his plans to sit out in the first place. Talking after Sunday’s game, James did not seem to be concerned with load management, although he conceded that he might not have many games left before his retirement.

“If I am healthy, I (will) play,” he said. “Why wouldn’t I play if I am healthy. It doesn’t make any sense to me, personally.”

“I don’t know how many games I got left in my career. I don’t know how many kids that may show up to a game that are there to come see me play”

Apart from 32 points, James also contributed with 13 rebounds and seven assists as the final score read 101-96. He, along with Anthony Davis contributed to 58 points and 26 rebounds in what was the Lakers’ seventh consecutive victory.

The Lakers did not look at their best at times in the game. They had 22 turnover, and shot just 16% from the three pointers. However, their defence managed to keep them in the game against an out of form Hawks side. The Lakers blocked nine shots and had 14 steals.

“Our defensive numbers were great,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said after the match. “But we didn’t really guard it to the level we are capable of.”

“We got to tighten the screws a little. The turnovers were a little too sloppy. We usullay come back with shot-making, which wasn’t there tonight. The way we played, we are happy to get a win tonight.”
