Los Angleles Lakers, who seem to be well equipped for the 2019-20 NBA season, could have signed another superstar according to their marquee player LeBron James.

James said that Lakers, who have already added the likes of Anthony Davis this season to make them a strong title contender, had the chance to add Kawhi Leonard.

Talking to ESPN ahead of their NBA season opener against Los Angeles Clippers, James said, “You ask me was I getting excited about it? I don’t get too excited until things actually happen, but I thought we had a chance. That’s all you can ask for. We put ourselves in position to have a chance to get (Leonard). When he went to the Clippers, I thought that was just as cool. It was great for our league, and he had to do what was best for him. And we all respect that.”

Kawhi Leonard, who won the NBA championship with his only season with Toronto Raptors, was signed by the Clippers for this season. This made the two Los Angeles teams look extremely competitive for the season.

When LeBron James was asked what ultimately swayed Leonard to sign with L.A.’s other NBA team, he said, “Man, how the hell can I answer that? I don’t f—ing know,” James said with an incredulous grin. “I don’t know. I don’t know. Ask Kawhi.”
