Rafael Nadal has had an extraordinary season so far. Winning the French Open seems a stroll in his backyard. Having won his 13th title at Roland Garros this year, beating arch-rival Novak Djokovic in a no-contest match.

The King of Clay, for the first time in his elongated career, tied up with his rival and friend Roger Federer (20 grand slams each). 

Thereafter, the Spaniard won his 1000th career match during the Rolex Paris Masters. Things have certainly gone well for him this year. He even overtook Jimmy Connors to be in the Top 10 of the ATP rankings for most consecutive weeks (790).

The last couple of months have been successful for Rafa.

Rafael Nadal on Repercussion of the Pandemic

In a year that has seen the majority of events in all fields across the globe being canceled, another important event that followed suit was the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The organizers decided to postpone the event much to everyone’s disappointment but to ensure the safety of all citizens. Safety in such circumstances is the number one priority.

Speaking on this issue, Nadal said “It was very negative news to postpone the Olympics to next year. But I think it is less negative news because it is a third world pandemic. The world is suffering.”

Reflecting on the venue and the postponement of the event, Nadal added “I’m sure the Olympic Games in Tokyo will be unforgettable. I’m sure everyone from the world of sport is excited to compete in the Olympics in Japan. I’m sure it’ll be an amazing experience.”

The current World No.2 won the gold medal in the men’s single category beating Chile’s Fernando Gonzalez back in 2008. After which in 2016, Nadal along with Marc Lopez won the gold medal in the men’s doubles category. Amongst the big 3, Rafa has enjoyed far more success than both of them. Djokovic has managed to bag a bronze (2008) while Federer has a silver (2012).
