Lewis Hamilton Responds to Critics over Save the Environment Cause, Vows to be Carbon Neutral

Sometime ago, Lewis Hamilton copped a lot of criticism over his vegan lifestyle. Then, on Instagram, he posted a message about wanting to give up as people were not serious about saving the environment.
That message only served to fan the flames to a raging inferno and the heat was intense. The likes of Romain Grosjean and Fernando Alonso even slammed his vegan habits. When he was questioned about his lifestyle, Lewis Hamilton had plenty to say to his critics.
“I was watching a documentary and it was just sad to see the things that we are kind of not aware of,” he said in the pre-race press conference.

“It just inspired me to want to do more and reach out to those who perhaps don’t know some of the things that are happening.”

He admitted hat he was aiming to become carbon neutral by the end of the year. As it turns out, Lewis Hamilton does not allow anyone in his office or his household to buy any plastics. Instead, he prefers anything recycle-able, and is making an effort to incorporate all these changes in his life.

He continued, “I sold my plane over a year ago. I fly a lot less now, I try to fly less through the year and mostly fly commercial so that’s been a big change in my habits. I’ve avoided trips as well if I don’t need to do it, been in the UK for example with family and gone up to Bedfordshire and stayed with the family instead of gone on holiday. Obviously I’ve changed my diet which is quite a drastic difference,”
Hamilton cont.: "It’s not the easiest because yes we are travelling around the world, we are racing Formula 1 cars. Our carbon footprint is higher than the average homeowner. But it doesn’t meant you should be afraid to speak out about things for a positive change" #F1 #MexicoGP

Speaking about the various cars that he owns, he said, “I have a Maybach in London, for example, I’m looking now to switch that. I think they’re bringing a hybrid out at the end of the year for the Maybach, I love the Maybach, however right now that doesn’t really suit what I’m fighting for so I need to change that also for an EQC or one of the hybrids they have. So I’m constantly making changes.
On a parting note, he addressed suggestions that he switch to Formula E in the near future. It was a notion that he flatly denied any interest in partaking, even though Mercedes were open to letting him try their Formula E car.
