James Harden was putting the Sixers in a very tight stop as he made it very clear that he wanted out from the Sixers back in June. Unsatisfied with his demands not being met, he went as far as to call the Sixers’ President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey a liar during an Adidas media event in China a few months ago. After being quite irregular during team practice as well as the preseason games, Harden took another ten-day hiatus leading up to the regular season.

Harden showed up on the day the Sixers were about to travel to Milwaukee for their season debut game against the Bucks. However, it was decided that he should stay back in Philly and put in the hours to make up for the practice hours he missed. Now that he has finally landed on the Clippers, the team that he had been eyeing ever since his trade demand, Daryl Morey has nothing but good wishes for Harden.

It’s not about me, it’s about the players

Daryl Morey has no regrets as the Sixers followed through on what Harden wanted, despite Harden handling things his own way. Daryl does say that they should have moved quicker with the decision, but after all that’s been said and done, and all the trouble that Harden caused the Sixers, he says, “He’s a great player, he’s gonna do great things for the Clippers, PJ Tucker as well.” Tucker was also traded to the Clippers alongside Harden. Above everything else, Darly wishes Harden the best in his new venture.

As far as what he felt about the entire ordeal, Daryl says, “It’s not about me, it’s never, should be about anyone at the front office.” In fact, he says that it should always be about the players and winning games and that the rest doesn’t really matter. What’s interesting is that Daryl is very confident about Harden making it to the Hall of Fame. “This’ll just be a blip and something that, you know, something that we won’t remember when were at James’ Hall of Fame induction.”
