Linda Noskova earned the biggest paycheck of her life after her Wimbledon triumph, taking home €3.6 million ($4.8 million), a sum that can be life-changing for a 21-year-old tennis player. However, before she gets to capitalize on her paycheck, it seems that the tax authorities are poised to take a sizeable chunk of that prize money.

Under British tax law, Noskova’s earnings are subject to a 45 percent deduction from her total prize money, as they fall into the highest tax bracket in the country. Given the rate, $2.1 million will be deducted from Noskova’s prize money. However, Noskova also falls under the Class 4 insurance bracket in the UK, which means the total deduction from the Czech player’s prize money would be 47 percent, including both tax and insurance.
Deducting 47 percent of the prize money would mean Noskova losing $2.2 million of her winnings, leaving her with about $2.6 million. Although the Czech player has the right to be reimbursed for the use of gear such as rackets during the tournament, travel expenses, and coaching expenses, this would help mitigate the tax loss for the Czech player.
Muchova is not the only player facing this, as even home favorite Arthur Fery came under the tax law, which saw 45 percent of his prize money taken before he was given the cheque. Whichever of Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev wins the men’s singles final on Sunday will face the same pay cut due to tax reasons.
To date, Noskova has earned roughly $5.89 million in her career, with her 2026 earnings exceeding $1.33 million before Wimbledon. With this triumph, the Czech player not only became financially wealthy but also made her mark on the WTA rankings, attaining her career-best position on the charts.
Linda Noskova has a career-high ranking after Wimbledon Win
With her maiden Major title, Noskova earned 1760 points, which has seen the Czech player jump five spots up on the live rankings, and is currently at a career-best position of No. 7 with 5119 points. She is less than 50 points behind her compatriot Karolina Muchova, who is on No.6 with 5168 points.
This points boost will give Noskova a chance to even break into the top 3 as she is about 1200 points adrift from third-ranked Jessica Pegula on the live rankings. Winning a Major will give the Czech an enormous amount of confidence, which could be a key to her results in the upcoming North American hard-court swing. The way the 21-year-old handled the nerves and pressure in her first Major final was proof that she belonged at the top tier of WTA players.
The final between the two Czech compatriots could easily be divided into three chapters, with the first being all about Noskova, who shone bright in the final and had a commanding 6-2, 5-2 lead over Muchova, who looked slow and lackluster on the court. The second narrative is all about the fight that Muchova showed from being 2-5 down in the second set to win it 7-5, while saving five match points on the way. When the second set ended, Noskova had her head in the towel on the chair, having missed multiple opportunities to win the match.
The third chapter of the match was the final set, where once again Noskova had a 5-2 lead, and with Muchova holding at 5-3, the 21-year-old had a chance to win it all yet again. Lightning did not strike twice as the younger Czech seized the moment and created history by converting on her sixth match point.
