Liverpool have reportedly agreed terms with long term target Mateo Kovacic ahead of a move to Anfield. The Reds have been on the trail of the Croatian playmaker for a few months now they have reportedly agreed personal terms with Kovacic, though they have yet to settle on a fee with his current club, Inter Milan. Liverpool are thought to have offered around £15.2m for the 21 year-old, though Inter are thought to be holding out for as much as £17.9m.

Kovacic has become one of Europe’s hottest properties over the last couple of years. A measure of his worth is that he has appeared over 40 times for Inter this season – quite a total for such a young talent, scoring eight goals for the Nerazzurri last campaign. Kovacic also has 20 caps for Croatia, scoring one goal.

In other news around Anfield, Sami Hyypiä and Bolo Zenden have emerged as two names to replace the sacked Liverpool assistant manager Colin Pascoe, according to Sky Sports.

Pascoe’s dismissal comes just one day after first-team coach Mike Marsh was sacked from the club – part of a wider back-room shake up as the Liverpool owners look to make positive changes on last year’s poor campaign.  Some sort of change was needed however, and the board hope that the back room shake-up will help Rodgers to get Liverpool on the right track. Hyypiä’s defensive nous is maybe something that Liverpool are in need of considering the amount of goals they have conceded over the last two seasons.
