Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa’s current manager, first discovered Gomez during his days at Tottenham’s academy where he was in-charge. Sherwood found his technique remarkable and his skill admirable.

However, it is believed that Gomez has been Arsène Wenger’s target for a long period of time. This might start a bidding war between Liverpool and Arsenal for the young defender.

In other news, Liverpool center back Sebastian Coates might be moving to Sunderland, where he spent his last season on loan, in a £4 million move. This would mean that Liverpool will suffer a 50% loss on the Uruguayan defender, who spent most of his time with the Reds out on loan.

It is believed that Liverpool will be adding a lot of fresh faces to their squad this summer window. Liverpool has failed to win any major trophies recently and now that Gerrard has gone, Liverpool will need a new central figure who can help the Reds restore their prestige and motivate the squad to win more trophies and secure their place in the top four.
