The 16-year-old is tipped to become the next Arjen Robben after impressive performances in the Dutch league for PSV last season. As a result PSV were keen to bring Adekanye on a permanent basis but Barcelona wanted him to stay on loan till the dispute was resolved.

FIFA had banned Adekanye to play for Barcelona competitively as they accused Barcelona of illegally signing him at the age of 12 from Ajax in 2012. Adekanye instead left Barcelona and signed for the Anfield outfit to get a bigger platform for his career.
