Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic battled for the French Open 2020 title on Sunday. Many were expecting a thrilling match that would last for 5 sets but that was not what happened. Rafa dominated the match from start to finish and won 6-0, 6-2, 7-5.

Nobody could’ve predicted such a scoreline, especially since Novak played so well throughout the tournament. So, what went wrong? Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou gave his view on this as he said,

“You could feel something wrong because he was looking for easy points like trying drop shots here and there, like 4 drop shots in the first game. He was not prepared to rally and go for it and hit winners to give himself a chance to win that match.

“So, we didn’t have the match expected. I mean, 6-0, 6-2 and then okay 7-5 in the third but 6-0, 6-2. You cannot believe that it’s a match between Rafa and Novak. I mean,  all of their matches, even the ones that were the most one-sided…There was like a big fight.”

Novak Djokovic will come back from this loss

This loss is probably one of Novak’s worst, and he is definitely not happy about it. However, as all tennis fans know, the Serb excels at coming back from a loss and he will hope to do it again this year. There are 2 big events left in the year – the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals – and Novak will hope to win both of these events.
