Former tennis ace Maria Sharapova has been in the limelight once again. The glamorous Russian star who revolutionized tennis along with fashion has emerged on the scene once again. Having attended a film festival in Venice, the former World No. 1 player is ready to make a second appearance on a stage as grand as this one.

Recently, it was revealed that Maria Sharapova will be making an appearance at the Met Gala 2021. The event is taking place next week. This event is known for attendees displaying some of the fanciest outfits. However, the 5-time Grand Slam winner doesn’t wish to reveal her outfit nor the designer of it.

When she was in Venice attending the film festival, she stated, “When I saw that dress and knew that I was attending the film festival, I definitely sent them a note and said I would love to wear that dress.”

Maria Sharapova won Wimbledon in her second attempt 

Reflecting on her career, Sharapova won her first Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon Championships. She was a 17-year-old teenager who managed to beat then World No. 1 Serena Williams in the final in 2004.

After that, in 2016, she lifted the US Open for the very first time in her career. Following that, in 2008, she claimed the Australian Open. The French Open happens to be the only Grand Slam that she has managed to win it twice, in 2012 and 2014 respectively. 

She announced her retirement in 2020. Later that year, she got engaged to a British businessman Alexander Gilkes. We wish her the very best in this new chapter in her life.
