I’m not leaving. I’m staying at the football club and I can’t wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club.”

He is a good dribbler along with a fantastic ability to strike from long range. He is one of the most wanted midfielders in Premier League, with having being eyed upon by Liverpool, Spurs and United a few months back. City emerged as favorites to land the midfielder, but with the player choosing his club over money shows that there is still a lot of prestige left among the players for their club.

He was shocked at how some Villa fans had turned on him when it emerged that he might be leaving soon after signing a new contract in January and they were talking uncertainly about his loyalty to the club. Delph signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with Villa back in January but many felt that was merely a goodwill gesture.

The club and fans have a lot of expectations from the player in the upcoming season, Sherwood believes that Delph and Company can raise themselves among the Europa positions on the table.

Delph has played the role of a midfielder wonderfully,  just as the team requires and needs him to be. He is a great asset and will surely lead them on the path of glory next season.
