After the recent BMW Ladies Championship, there has been a huge upheaval in the women’s golf rankings. Moreover, after the American dominance for a few months, the top spot now goes back to a South Korean golfer Jin Young Ko. Meanwhile, South Koreans and Americans have always been the dominating forces in the world of golf, especially on the LPGA Tour. 

Hence, there is always a tussle between these two countries in women’s golf. And that’s what recent records indicate as well. Moreover, Nelly Korda, who was on the top spot for quite a few months, has been pushed down in the rankings. So let us see who is the new world no.1 in women’s golf rankings.

Jin Young Ko regains the top spot in women’s golf rankings

The South Korean superstar Jin Young Ko has regained the top spot in the women’s golf ranking. She had an emphatic victory recently at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea. Now, with this victory, she has overthrown Nelly Korda and has regained the world’s no.1 status. Moreover, she was the world no.1 in women’s golf before Nelly Korda overtook her with an incredible previous season.

Meanwhile, she started the final day four strokes behind the lead and finished the 72 holes with a score of -22. She shared the lead with H.J. Lim and defeated her in the playoffs. And this win has earned her second consecutive victory on the LPGA Tour. Furthermore, this was the 200th win by a Korean player on the LPGA Tour, which shows their dominance in this game.

However, Nelly Korda didn’t participate in this event as she is having some rest before ending this season. Hence, she couldn’t get any points for the rankings, which worked in favor of the South Korean and made her the world’s no.1 golfer. Moreover, these two golfers are also fighting for the Player of the Year award. 

Meanwhile, Jim Young Ko currently has 176 points while the former world no.1 Nelly Korda, has 161 points. However, with two more events remaining in this season of the LPGA Tour, it will be interesting to see who remains at the top by the end of the season. And to make things more interesting, both Nelly and Ko will be competing in these final two events.
