Nelly Korda or Jin Young Ko: Who Deserves to Win the Rolex Player of the Year Award?

The LPGA Tour is in the business end, with just the final two events remaining this year. Meanwhile, this season had some exciting golf as we saw plenty of new talent and some incredible performances. However, the most impressive season has been for two golfers, Nelly Korda and Jin Young Ko.

Meanwhile, these two golfers are in close contention as both these golfers want to finish the season as world no.1. However, along with a world no.1, there is an all-important Player of the Year award. And both these golfers, Jin Young Ko and Nelly Korda are in contention for the same. So who should win the Player of the Year award? Let’s find out.

Nelly Korda or Jin Young Ko? Who should win the Rolex Player of the Year award?

The most impressive player throughout the year get’s a reward at the end of the season with a Rolex Player of the Year award. And this year, South Korea’s Jin Young Ko and America’s Nelly Korda are in contention. Jin Young Ko is currently at the top in the Rolex Player of the Year award rankings with 176 points, while Nelly Korda is slightly behind her with 161 points.

However, with still two events remaining, this points table might change. But if we look at the record and their performance throughout the year, Jin Young Ko deserves to win this award. She has been consistent throughout the year and has some incredible stats, which reflect the dominance the 26-year-old South Korean has had this year.

She has won most events this season with four LPGA wins. Moreover, she even has 11 top-10 finishes in the 17 events she played this season, which shows her consistency. However, Nelly Korda, who has been equally good this season, is slightly behind the South Korean golfer. Korda has won three events and has 8 top-10 finishes in 15 starts. 

Meanwhile, more or less, these stats of Nelly Korda are similar to Jin Young Ko’s. However, Nelly remains slightly behind in terms of consistency. Hence, Jin Young Ko deserves to win the Rolex Player of the Year award this season.
