Moreover, in 2021, the duo also witnessed a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. McDede was previously with American Lizette Salas and has had success as a caddie on the LPGA Tour. 

Despite all the success, their most memorable victory came at the 2019 Taiwan Swinging Skirts LPGA. Nelly Korda was paired with German golfer Caroline Masson, who is Jason McDede’s fiancee. Moreover, there was a three-way tie after 72 holes, and the event went into the playoff. 

However, the playoff lasted for just one hole as Nelly made a quick birdie and won her third LPGA Tour. Moreover, after the victory, she spoke to GolfDigest about Caroline and Jason McDede. “Yeah, Jason is engaged to Caroline, but at the end of the day, he is on my team, and I am the one signing his paycheck,” said Nelly jokingly.

“Caroline is a great person, and she played amazing golf today. You know, it was kind of difficult for him. But I wouldn’t be where I am without Jason, and he made sure that he kept me in the game.”

Jason McDede opens up about his working experience with Nelly Korda

Jason has seen Nelly Korda grow as a player. When he joined Nelly, she had zero wins under her belt on the LPGA Tour. But from there to becoming the world no.1 Nelly has made a huge surge in her career. “Nelly’s a tremendous talent and a very good person,” McDede said. “She’s worked very hard to get to this position, and it’s definitely not luck that she’s here.”

Furthermore, he opened up about what he does and how he assists Nelly on the course. “As for me, I really just try and keep things light with Nelly,” McDede added. “She plays her best golf when she has a smile on her face, so I try and do my best to make sure that happens.”

“I know it sounds cliché, but I feel that when a world-class player is clear in what they’re trying to do — and also happy and excited to do it — they will get the best results.”

This shows the bond that this duo shares with each other is incredible. And hopefully, they will continue to perform the same way in the upcoming season as well.
