With 30 seconds left to play in the final quarter, the score in the match between Portland Trial Blazers and Dallas Mavericks read 118-119 in favour of the Mavericks. Damian Lillard drove in to convert a lay up to give his team a point’s lead. In response, Luka Doncic attempted a three pointer, but missed. If you are thinking the game ended with the Trail Blazer keeoing possession for the remainder of the few seconds, there was still some drama left in the game.
Dorrian Finney-Smith grabbed an offensive rebound and thought he was fouled while attempting to shoot. A coach’s challenge resulted in a jump-ball, off which Kent Bazemore was awarded a free-throw with five seconds left on the clock. He missed the shot, but the Trail Blazers won the game with a point, after Tim Hardaway’s out of range buzzer beater was not to be.
Talking after the game, 21-year old Luka Doncic took blame for the close loss, referring to the three-pointer that he missed in the final few seconds.
“I lost that game. Bad shot selection. … They were in the bonus. I should have drove it,” he said.

Luka Doncic, along with Kristaps Porzhingis, have been in the centre of the Mavericks play. Doncic has earned major accolades for what he has done so far and is being regarded as the next big thing in NBA.
Nearly three-quarters of the Mavs’ made shots were assisted. Of Luka Doncic’s game-high 9 assists, 5 went to Kristaps Porzingis and 3 to Maxi Kleber. Porzingis had 5 assists of his own, with 3 of the going to Luka. pic.twitter.com/3WNFcbNygl

Doncic now has nine triple doubles- which is four more than what LeBron James had at his age. He almost had his 10th on Sunday where he registered 29 point, 12 rebounds and nine assists.
