The qualifying rounds and the opening rounds of the Madrid Open 2019 have already started. Roger Federer is the talking point in the 2019 edition of the Madrid Open. The Swiss Maestro is returning to the clay court after 3 long years at the ATP Masters tournament in Madrid.
While there are new entries in the draw with the coming of Roger Federer, there are many who could not compete in the tournament. The Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga became the latest player to pull out from the Madrid Open 2019 after 10 consecutive appearances in the event.
The South African player is currently suffering from what is known as tennis elbow. The world no. 6 withdrew from the Monte-Carlo Masters, last month due to an injury on the right elbow.

Jo Wilfried Tsonga pulled out of the Madrid Open and Rome Masters due to a knee injury. The Frenchman injured his knee during his semi-final match in Montpellier.
3. Jack Sock
Jack Sock had undergone a surgery on his index finger in February which sidelines him from tennis for at least two months. The American Injured his finger while snowboarding.
4. Chung Hyeon
Chung Hyeon pulled out of the Barcelona Open last week due to his back injury. The South-Korean player is yet to start his clay court campaign in the 2019 season
5. Thanasi Kokkinakis
Kokkinakis is suffering from a shoulder injury since the Australian Open 2019. Recently, he also pulled out of the Monte-Carlo Masters.
6. Andy Murray
Andy Murray is suffering from a long time injury on hip. The Brit has undergone hip surgery after the Australian Open 2019, he is yet to make a comeback on the ATP tour since then.
7. Filip Krajinovic
The Serbian would not be appearing in this years’ Madrid Open due to a foot injury. He had withdrawn from the Estoril Open, last week.
8. Vasek Pospisil
Pospisil is undergoing a rehabilitation process following surgery for his herniated disk in January and hence he would miss the Madrid Open 2019.
9. Maria Sharapova
Maria Sharapova had withdrawn from the Monte Carlo Masters last month despite training hard for the tournament. She underwent a minor shoulder injury, due to which she decided to skip the Madrid Open.
10. Elena Vesnina
The Russian gave birth to a baby girl in November last year. She is yet to make a return in the 2019 WTA tour.
11. Sania Mirza
Sania Mirza underwent a C-section surgery while delivering her baby last year. The Indian star is planning to hit the court later this year.
12. Coco Vandeweghe
Coco Vandeweghe is currently recovering from her foot injury.
13. John Isner
John Isner is currently unsure about his condition. The American is currently suffering from a stress fracture in his foot.
14. Milos Raonic
Injuries once again forced Milos Raonic to withdraw from a tournament. An injured knee forced the Canadian to pull out from the Madrid Masters 2019.
15. Ekaterina Makarova
Ekaterina Makarova will not be seen playing at the Madrid Open 2019.
16. Tomas Berdych
Tomas Berdych is suffering from a back injury due to which he would be unable to participate at the Madrid Open 2019.
17. Venus Williams
Venus Williams will miss the Madrid Open 2019. She is scheduled to play the Italian Open after getting a wild card into the main draw of the event.
18. Serena Williams
Serena Williams is set to make a return at the Italian Open. She is currently recovering from an undisclosed left knee injury.
19. Bianca Andreescu
Bianca Andreescu is currently recovering from a shoulder injury.
20. Andrey Rublev
Andrey Rublev announced that he would not be able to play until the grass court season due to an injury on the right wrist.
